1 Das Institut erfüllt die Aufgaben, die ihm gemäss diesem Gesetz sowie weiteren Bundesgesetzen zugewiesen sind.184
1bis Der Bundesrat kann dem Institut gegen Abgeltung weitere Aufgaben übertragen, die in engem Bezug zu den ihm gesetzlich übertragenen Aufgaben stehen und deren Erfüllung nicht beeinträchtigen.185
2 Das Institut kann gegen Entgelt Dienstleistungen im Rahmen der Aufgaben nach diesem Gesetz für andere Behörden und internationale Organisationen erbringen, sofern diese die Unabhängigkeit des Instituts nicht gefährden.186
3 Der Bundesrat kann das Institut beauftragen, bei der Vorbereitung der Erlasse auf dem Gebiet der Heilmittel mitzuwirken.
4 Das Institut ist die nationale Zentral- und Kontaktstelle nach den Artikeln 17 Absatz 3 und 22 Absatz 2 des Übereinkommens des Europarats vom 28. Oktober 2011187 über die Fälschung von Arzneimitteln und Medizinprodukten und über ähnliche die öffentliche Gesundheit gefährdende Straftaten. Es steht in Verbindung mit den bezeichneten ausländischen Kontaktstellen.188

1 The Agency shall accomplish the tasks assigned to it under this Act and other federal acts.184
1bis The Federal Council may, against payment, delegate other tasks to the Agency which are closely related to the tasks assigned to it by law and which do not impair its performance.185
2 The Agency may, in return for payment, provide services to other authorities and international organisations within the scope of its tasks under this Act, provided that such services do not jeopardise the independence of the Agency.186
3 The Federal Council may ask the Agency to participate in the drafting of legislation in the therapeutic products sector.
4 The Agency is the national central and contact point pursuant to Articles 17 paragraph 3 and 22 paragraph 2 of the Council of Europe Convention of 28 October 2011187 on the counterfeiting of medical products and similar crimes involving threats to public health. It shall maintain contacts with the designated contact points in other countries.188
