1 Die Ärzte und Tierärzte sind verpflichtet, Betäubungsmittel nur in dem Umfange zu verwenden, abzugeben und zu verordnen, wie dies nach den anerkannten Regeln der medizinischen Wissenschaften notwendig ist.
1bis Ärzte und Tierärzte, die als Arzneimittel zugelassene Betäubungsmittel für eine andere als die zugelassenen Indikationen abgeben oder verordnen, müssen dies innerhalb von 30 Tagen den zuständigen kantonalen Behörden melden. Sie haben auf Verlangen der zuständigen kantonalen Behörden alle notwendigen Angaben über Art und Zweck der Behandlung zu machen.58
2 Die Absätze 1 und 1bis gelten auch für die Verwendung und Abgabe von Betäubungsmitteln durch Zahnärzte.59

1 Physicians and veterinary surgeons are obliged to use, dispense and prescribe narcotics only in the quantities necessary according to the recognised rules of medical science.
1bis Physicians and veterinary surgeons who dispense narcotics authorised as medicinal products for indications other than those for which they were authorised must report this within 30 days to the relevant cantonal authorities. They must provide all the information requested by the relevant cantonal authorities on the nature and purpose of the treatment.58
2 Paragraphs 1 and 1bis also apply to the use and dispensing of narcotics by dentists.59
