1 The Federal Office of Police coordinates the exchange of police information for the investigation and prosecution offences and for the execution of sentences and measures.
2 It may transmit police information for the purpose of preventing offences if there are specific indications that there is a serious probability of a felony or misdemeanour being committed.
3 It may coordinate the exchange of information relating to searches for missing persons and for the identification of unknown persons.
4 In the interest of preventing and investigating offences, the Federal Office of Police may receive and provide information from and to private individuals if this is in the interests of the persons concerned and their consent has been given or may be assumed in the circumstances.
1 L’Office fédéral de la police transmet les informations relevant de la police criminelle aux fins de poursuivre des infractions ou d’assurer l’exécution de peines et de mesures.
2 Il peut transmettre les informations relevant de la police criminelle aux fins de prévenir des infractions si, au vu d’éléments concrets, il est très probable qu’un crime ou un délit sera commis.
3 Il peut transmettre des informations destinées à rechercher des personnes disparues ou à identifier des inconnus.
4 En vue de prévenir ou d’élucider des infractions, l’Office fédéral de la police peut recevoir des informations provenant de particuliers ou donner des informations à des particuliers, si cela est dans l’intérêt de la personne concernée et si celle-ci y a consenti ou que les circonstances permettent de présumer un tel consentement.
