Art. 11 Plant protection

1 Pests, diseases and weeds must be controlled by a combination of different measures, in particular the following:

a.
a choice of appropriate species and varieties;
b.
appropriate crop rotation;
c.57
physical cultivation procedures;
d.
thermal procedures where steaming of the soil is restricted to market gardening under cover and production of seedlings;
e.
promotion and protection of natural enemies of pests through provisions favourable to them (e.g. hedges, nesting sites, release of predators).

2 The Department shall specify authorised plant protection products and instructions for their use. Substances which are not of plant, animal, microbial or mineral origin and are not identical to their natural form shall only be authorised if their conditions of use preclude any contact with the edible parts of the plant. This applies without prejudice to the authorisation procedure laid down in the Plant Protection Products Ordinance of 18 May 200558.59

3 Plant protection products may only be used in the case of immediate danger threatening the crops.

4 The use of growth regulators, wilting products and herbicides is not permitted.

Art. 11 Pflanzenschutz

1 Schädlinge, Krankheiten und Beikräuter müssen durch eine ganzheitliche Anwendung verschiedener Massnahmen reguliert werden. Zu diesem Zweck sind insbesondere folgende Massnahmen zu treffen:

a.
geeignete Arten- und Sortenwahl;
b.
geeignete Fruchtfolge;
c.57
physikalische Verfahren;
d.
thermische Verfahren, wobei das Dämpfen der Erde auf den gedeckten Gemüseanbau und die Setzlingsanzucht beschränkt ist;
e.
Förderung und Schutz von Nützlingen durch Schaffung günstiger Verhältnisse (z. B. Hecken, Nistplätze, Freisetzung von Nutzorganismen).

2 Das WBF legt die zulässigen Pflanzenschutzmittel sowie ihre Verwendung fest. Stoffe, die nicht pflanzlichen, tierischen, mikrobiellen oder mineralischen Ursprungs sind und nicht mit ihrer natürlichen Form identisch sind, können nur zugelassen werden, wenn in ihren Verwendungsbedingungen jeglicher Kontakt mit den essbaren Teilen der Pflanze ausgeschlossen wird. Das Bewilligungsverfahren nach der Pflanzenschutzmittel-Verordnung vom 18. Mai 200558 bleibt vorbehalten.59

3 Pflanzenschutzmittel dürfen nur verwendet werden, wenn eine unmittelbare Bedrohung für die Kulturen besteht.

4 Der Einsatz von Wachstumsregulatoren, Welkemitteln und Herbiziden ist nicht erlaubt.
