Art. 2 Gegenstand und Geltungsbereich

¹ Dieses Gesetz regelt für sämtliche Berufsbereiche ausserhalb der Hochschulen:

a.: die berufliche Grundbildung, einschliesslich der Berufsmaturität;
b.: die höhere Berufsbildung;
c.: die berufsorientierte Weiterbildung;
d.: die Qualifikationsverfahren, Ausweise und Titel;
e.: die Bildung der Berufsbildungsverantwortlichen;
f.: die Zuständigkeit und die Grundsätze der Berufs‑, Studien- und Laufbahnberatung;
g.: die Beteiligung des Bundes an den Kosten der Berufsbildung.

² Dieses Gesetz gilt nicht für Bildungen, die in anderen Bundesgesetzen geregelt sind.

³ Der Bundesrat kann im Einvernehmen mit den Kantonen einzelne Berufsbereiche vom Geltungsbereich ausnehmen, soweit dies im Interesse einer sinnvollen Aufgabenverteilung zwischen Bund und Kantonen geboten ist.

Art. 2 Object and scope

¹ This Act applies to all occupational and professional fields except those covered by the higher education sector:

a.: upper-secondary level vocational education and training (VET), including subjects taught in the preparatory course for the Federal Vocational Baccalaureate (FVB) Examination;
b.: tertiary-level professional education;
c.: job-related continuing education and training;
d.: qualification procedures, qualifications and titles;
e.: training provided to VPET professionals;
f.: responsibilities and principles associated with vocational, educational and career guidance;
g.: federal funding to help cover the costs of the VPET system.

² This Act does not apply to education and training governed by other Federal Acts.

³ The Federal Council may, in agreement with the Cantons, exclude individual occupational or professional fields from the scope of this Act if doing so is required for the efficient allocation of tasks between the Confederation and the Cantons.
